Rides start at 11am - so don't be late!

  • A Mountain Bike Event just for the kids (aged 5 to 12)
  • Separate courses for 5 to 7 years, 8 to 10 years and 11 to 12 years
  • Test your ability on the bike in the Skills Area
  • Heaps of spots prizes thanks to Wensley's Cycles and the Southland Mountain Bike Club


  • Entry fee is $10 per, $15 for two riders or rider or $20 per family.
  • Enter on the day from 10am

Ride Rules

  • Entrants are to be aged 5 to 12 years on the day of the event
  • All entrants must wear a safety approved cycle helmet whilst on their bike
  • All bikes for the event must be mechanically sound and suitable for riding off road on undulating terrain. If in doubt get the bikes checked at any of the listed bike shops.
  • We recommend the use of knobbly mountain bike tires. Bikes fitted with trainer wheels will not be permitted on the course.
  • All riders participating in the organised ride must have their Southland Times Kids Skids number plate attached in front of the handlebars on their bike. Riders not displaying the number plate will not be permitted on the course.
  • Everyone that enters the event will get a race pack including their personal race number plate and zip ties.
  • There will hundreds of dollars worth of be spot prizes. These will be drawn after completion of the organised rides. To be eligible for a spot prize you need to be present.
  • There will be no prizes for place-getters as the emphasis is on fun, giving it a go and completing the course.
  • Participants need to register at the venue before participating. Registration will be from 10 to 10:45am on the day
  • There will be a briefing just before the rides commence, EVERYONE must attend, so make sure you are there and listening hard!
  • Only entrants and officials are allowed on the courses during the rides. Mums and Dads are free to watch and cheer but are not to ride on the course during the organised ride.
  • All the tracks will be open to everyone after the spot prize draw.
  • If you don't have a suitable bike then Blue Light will have bikes and helmets available for use on the day.
