All players wishing to be considered for any Junior Rep Team in 2012/2013 must play in the following tournaments:

- Southland Junior Closed Champs 2012 - October 2012

It is also highly recommended that players wishing to make the junior rep team attend as many local satellite tournaments as possible together with any other tournaments throughout the country. See below for the Coach's Corner and more information on why it is important to play satellite tournaments.

Playing in the Southland Champs does not guarantee a place in a team but is a prerequsite.
All tournament results will be taken into account when selecting teams.

Players must also be a current fully paid up affiliated members of a Club affiliated to Tennis Southland.
Any Outstanding 90 day or more accounts with Tennis Southland must be paid in full ten working days prior to the representative event.

WELCOME TO THE COACH’S CORNER

I would like to explain to everybody how extremely important it is for every junior player wishing to both improve their own tennis through match play and to gain selection into our representative teams to play in the Satellite tournaments which are run in each sub association area annually.

Right now the entry form for the Waihopai Satellite (January 202nd 2012) are available from the Tennis Southland website.

SO WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? As a junior player you need to create a history of matches against other players in Southland. A part of the Tennis Southland selection criteria is for the selectors to research a player’s history over the previous 12 months to assist their selection into representative teams.

So the bottom line is this: No playing history within Southland will reduce your chances of selection but developing a strong history over 12 months by playing the satellite tournaments will in fact increase your chances to be picked.

I look forward to seeing you at future satellites.   It is a great idea if your folks are unable to take you to a tournament to ring around and catch a lift with someone that is going.

Tennis is an awesome sport so see you all really soon, I look forward to watching you in action.
